Life in the Village

Caring for Our Patients, Each Other and Our World

The DaVita Village is a unique community focused on our Trilogy of Care: for our patients, our teammates and our world. When we choose to become "citizens" of the DaVita community, we make a decision to engage our head, heart and hands for the greater good of those around us.

  • "I'm able to connect the values of my work and home life because they are so aligned with DaVita. I'm able to reach out to the community because DaVita supports that. I'm able to be a part of pioneering for bigger and better things to come with DaVita because we're never standing still. That's what Continuous Improvement is all about."   – Lori. T., Facility Administrator

Ask DaVita teammates about the Village and they'll tell you how working at DaVita is like being part of a giant extended family, connected by a common purpose.

  • "It's like being a part of a family. We set goals and work as a team to reach these goals. When we reach these goals we celebrate together."  Donna S., Acute RN

DaVita builds community through listening and caring about what the citizens of our Village have to say. DaVita was not only the first Fortune 500 ® to make the 2009 WorldBlu List of Most Democratic Workplaces, it was also the only Healthcare Organization selected and has continued to be named to this list every year since.

  • "The Village philosophy keeps everyone on the same page and engaged. There's a real sense of community and communication."  Kathleen P., Peritoneal Dialysis RN

Leadership is not something that can easily be taught. Management can be taught, but leadership is a human skill that requires learning about yourself and other human beings, Kent Thiry, CEO of DaVita, told a Stanford Graduate School of Business audience.

"In a Village, the citizens take care of each other and the greater community."  Kent Thiry, Mayor, DaVita
